The procedure for obtaining a student visa in Italy is straightforward. Let's start with the basic requirements for study visa in Italy, without which one cannot begin the process before diving into all of the required documentation.

  2. An offer letter from an Italian university
  3. The student must not have a criminal record
  4. Proof of finances 
  5. Prior to submitting the application, the student must not have been denied entry to Italy.

What are the Documents Required for Italy Student Visa?

This is the most crucial phase in the visa application process. All of the documents listed below should be prepared to avoid visa cancellation. The following documents are one of the basic Italian study visa requirements:

  • Visa Application form

The first document required for an Italian student visa is the application form. Ensure that the application form has been accurately filled and signed by the applicant. 

 

  • Valid Passport

To study at universities in Italy, Indian students require a passport with at least three months of validity and 2 blank pages. 

 

  • Photographs

A recent photograph of the candidate against a white background is a requirement for the Italy study visa. 

 

  • Institution offer letter

Acceptance of enrolment by public university in Italy or private, where you are admitted specifying the course duration has to be submitted for an Italian student visa. 

 

  • Bank statements

Several documents have to be given as proof of sufficient financial means during the course of study. This includes papers related to bank statements of the student/ family members. If necessary, the documents relating to a bank loan too shall be disclosed. 

 

  • Academic documents

Previous marks cards/certificates and a cover letter are given away to show the academic qualifications.

 

  • Health Insurance

For the first year of studies, there is a fee of 150 EUR for health insurance. In case the health insurance is provided by the university, it will be mentioned on the letter of admission. 

 

  • Receipt of full payment of the tuition fees (if required)

Some of the universities in Italy requires an acknowledgment of the payment of tuition fees to process the visa application. 

  • Return flight tickets

For D type visa (courses up to 90 days), you will need a return flight ticket or booking as well as one side air ticket.

  • Proof of Accommodation
