  • Your visa should be under the category of Subclass 485 or Subclass 500.
  • Your PR course should be registered under CRISCO (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students). 
  • Before applying for PR you should have completed a degree with a duration of at least 2 years. 
  • The minimum IELTS score should be at least 8.0 or a minimum TOEFL iBT score should be 80. 
  • Your acquired skill for your PR should be on Skilled Occupation Lists.

Applying for your PR in Australia is a crucial and sensitive process. Thousands of people apply every year, while only few secure a permanent residency in the country.

  • Step 1: Complete your PR course and acquire relevant skills under the Skilled Occupation Lists. 
  • Step 2: Select a new Visa as your student Visa will be over by now. You can choose from the Skilled Independent visa, Skilled Nominated visa, Skilled Work Regional Visa, or the Graduate visa.
  • Step 3: Submit an EOI (Expression of Interest) to the Department of Home Affairs through SkillSelect. In the EOI provide your personal and demographic information along with your qualifications and any factor you find relevant.
  • Step 4: Once your EOI has been approved by the Department of Home Affairs you will receive an invitation to apply for permanent residency in Australia. 
  • Step 5: After receiving the invitation ensure that you match the eligibility criteria and have the required PR points. 
  • Step 6: As the next step, submit your PR application within 60 days of the invitation and pay the application fee of around ₹2.5 lakh. Keep the following documents ready:
    • Passport and Birth Certificate.
    • All of your transcripts and certificates of your PR course. 
    • Skill assessment report along with English Proficiency Test score certificates.
    • Relevant work experience and health report (if required).

The Australian Department of Home Affairs uses a point system to assess your eligibility for PR. The higher the score you have on the point system the higher the chances for your PR to be accepted.
